Emery’s Obituary
SMITH, Emery Douglas – Age 82, of Shag Harbour, N.S. passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 8th, 2020 at Roseway Manor, Shelburne with family by his side. Born on December 23, 1937 in Bear Point, N.S. He was the son of the late Leslie and Althea Smith. Emery was a fisherman in his younger years and in 1983 he started his own business, Emery Smith Fisheries Ltd. He was a well-respected businessman who made many friends within the seafood industry. Emery was a loyal and dedicated son, husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Hazel; son, Monty (Nancy); daughter, Joy (Michael) Goreham; grandchildren, Jeremy (Kara) Smith, Jenna (Shaun) Kennedy, Travis (Debbie) Smith, Brennan (Samantha) Goreham, Shannon (Karine) Smith; great-grandchildren, Makynzie, Shaylie and Taylor Smith, Carter and Leah Kennedy, Kaysen and Brysen Smith, Thomas, Margaret and Sarah Goreham, Maxwell Smith; brother, Morton (Irene) Smith Besides his parents, he was predeceased by daughter-in-law, Sharon Smith. Special thanks to everyone at Roseway Manor for their wonderful care. Visitation will be held at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington, on Saturday, October 10 from 7- 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the Calvary United Baptist Church, Woods Harbour on Sunday, October 11, at 2 p.m. Pastor Phil Williams officiating. Covid 19 Protocols will be followed, and the church can be filled at half capacity, approximately 150 people. By request family flowers only. Donations in Emery’s memory may be made to Roseway Manor, Old Farm Cemetery or charity of choice.
