Passed away on June 24, 2020. Betty was born in Taynuilt, Scotland on September 24, 1923. She was the youngest daughter of the late George and Jessie (Campbell) Matthews and was predeceased by her sister Mary, brothers Allan, John, and Archie, and nephew Glenn. She is survived by her sister-in-law Lila, nephews Garry (Joan), John (Judy), Scott (Monica), Bruce, and James (Sue), nieces Clair Ann (“Dutchy”)(Ted), Gayle (John), Donna (Bill), and Geraldine, and several great nieces and nephews. Betty was a long-time member of St. Giles Presbyterian Church. Her affection for her cat Robbie is remembered with fondness. To the staff of Redwoods Retirement Residence, The Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus and the Élisabeth Bruyère Hospital – a sincere thank you for your kind and compassionate care of our Aunt. A family graveside service was held on June 27, 2020 at Pinecrest Cemetery in Ottawa. Donations in her memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association are welcomed.
