Memorial Donation
Edna Mae Frondall (Graham) passed away peacefully in Moosomin on Sunday, July 19th with her loving family by her side. Edna was born in Moosomin on September 7, 1929 and grew up in the Stanley District north east of Moosomin. She started her teaching career in Sintaluta, then returned to the surrounding area to teach and where she boarded with Lew and Ted Frondall and met her soulmate, Fred Frondall. She and Fred were married on January 5, 1955. What started with a dance at the Fleming Hall moved to life on the farm north of Fleming and the blessing of six children. She taught school up until the last of the children’s arrival and was also an integral part of running the farm. She drove the grain truck all through the years, early on with one or more of us kids in the cab and even after retirement. Edna had a green thumb and was able to feed us all with a very large garden. After the last of the kids were in school, Edna worked at Towne Clothiers and then Mitchell’s Jewelry before they retired and moved to Moosomin.
Mom was blessed with many talents. She was a great homemaker, quilter and knitter, making many cherished keepsake quilts, sweaters and afghans for her family. Under the Christmas tree there was always the coveted matching pj’s, we never did figure out how or when she had time to make them. She also loved to read, play cards, complete crosswords and puzzles. She enjoyed curling, golf and fishing with her family and friends.
We have learned many important values and lessons from Mom over the years. Family was everything to her and she always had a ready laugh and an empathetic ear. Her strong faith sustained her and was evident through her commitment as a member of the choir and the Catholic Women’s League. The best thing that she has left behind for us is her example. We miss you Mom and Nanny.
Edna is survived by her children and their families: Jack (Janet) Frondall, Kent (Whitney Cole), Greg (Stephanie and great grandson Jonathan) and Ward; Joy (Glen) Bateman, Chris (Kelsey) and Dani (Ryan McPhee); Doug (Lily Arvanitis) Frondall, Larissa (Greg Bursey), Brent and Deanna (Landon Krahn); Larry (Rhonda) Frondall, Blake and Kimberley; Gord (Cathy) Frondall and Nicholas; Lisa (Sean) Wallace, Ben (Holly Barss) and Mark; as well as brother, Jack Graham; and many nieces and nephews.
Edna was pre-deceased by her husband of 62 years, Fred Frondall; her mother and father, Eleanor and Wilford Graham; great-grandson Owen Bateman; sisters and brothers-in-law Marguerite and Cecil Dunn, Ruth and Ed Martineau; sister-in-law, Lorraine Graham; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Vern and Evelyn Frondall.
A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and caregivers from the Southeast Integrated Care Centre, Home Care and Long-Term Care for their kind, compassionate and gentle care.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Moosomin & District Healthcare Foundation for Long Term Care, the Fleming Cemetery or to a charity of your choice, in memory of Edna.
Edna’s life will be celebrated August 1st, 2020 at 2:00 pm at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Moosomin, with Fr. Joseph Kuruvilla officiating. The interment will be in Fleming Cemetery. As attendance is limited and we totally understand that many will not want to put themselves or others at risk, the funeral will be also livestreamed at www.carscaddenfuneralchapel.com click on the Speers TV link which will be at the top of the page on August 1.
An Angel
By an Unknown Author
An angel lived among us,
A gift from God above.
She showered us with kindness
And shared with us her love.
She cherished every moment
With the man who was her life;
Walking hand in hand together,
Facing life with all its strife.
She loved her children dearly,
Each one a different way,
Nestled close within her heart.
Though, now, she’s far away.
She’s gone to live with Jesus.
But, she’s here with us, today,
Smiling down on every one of us,
And telling us she’s O.K.
