Obituary of Edith Knight
KNIGHT, Edith
Went to be with her Lord on Sunday, March 8, 2020. Born Edith Moorecroft in Montreal, March 18, 1928, she moved to Windsor in 1940. On July 12, 1947 she married the love of her life, Ray Knight, who predeceased her on July 29, 1997. They had six children: Cathy (Jeff Watson); Sharon (late Bob Bailey March 8, 2020); Lorie (Larry Begin), Bob (Louise Laroche); Kevin and David. The family moved to Point Pelee in 1957, where Ray served as a Park Warden for many years. After his retirement, Ray and Edith moved to Leamington. Edith was active in the Es County Weaver’s Guild, and volunteered in several Leamington-area charitable organizations. She was deeply committed to her Church, St. John the Evangelist, Leamington, where, among other things, she sang in the Choir until she was almost 90. A committed Canadian, Edith was also deeply proud of her Irish heritage, and in her eighth decade became a citizen of the Republic of Ireland. Edith was adored by her children, nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, with two more on the way. She will be deeply missed. Visiting at the Reid Funeral Home and Reception Centre, 14 Russell Street, Leamington (519-326-2631) on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 from 6-9 p.m. Visiting continues at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, 60 Erie Street North, Leamington, on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Service to celebrate Edith’s life at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Andrew Wilson officiating. Cremation to follow. If desired, memorial donations made by cheque to St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church would be appreciated.
