Duncan’s Obituary
BLUE MOUNTAIN – Duncan Hugh Greene, 96, Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, formerly of Blue Mountain, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 24, 2020 in the Manor.
Born in Garden of Eden, he was the son of the late Duncan Hugh and Elizabeth Mary (Fraser) Greene. Duncan was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Blue Mountain where he had served as an Elder and on the Board of Managers. During the Second World War he served with the Canadian Army. He had been employed with the former Eastern Wood Workers, New Glasgow and retired from the former Scott Paper, Abercrombie in 1989. Duncan was a hardworking man who dearly loved his family.
Surviving are his daughter, Kathy Walker, New Glasgow; son, David (Lynn) Greene, Blue Mountain; grandsons, Mike Walker (Lori), Blue Mountain; Ryan Greene (Emma), Dartmouth and Layne Greene (Hayley), Kensington, P.E.I.; great-grandson, Owen Walker; sisters, Betty MacDougall, New Glasgow; Margaret Gillis, Bedford; nieces, Barbara MacDougall (David Whitehouse), Halifax; Reta Sweeney, Enfield; nephew, Bill (Ginette) Sutherland, Broadway; several great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Margaret Ellen “Nellie” (MacLeod); stepfather, Finlay Blair; sister, Mary Greene; sister-in-law, Mary Sutherland; brothers-in-law, Donald MacDougall, George Greene, Bobby Gillis and Irving Sutherland; nephews, Donald and Leon Sutherland.
Duncan’s family will celebrate his life privately.
