Dr. Sheriff Rahaman passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 10, 2020, at the age of 90 years in Regina, Saskatchewan. Sheriff was predeceased by his sister Nazreen. He is survived by his wife Mariam; children Omar (Mahua), Aliyah (Deryk), and Zaida; his grandsons Khalil, Azam, Sidharth and Aahron; and his brother Sheer. The funeral service and burial took place on Friday, December 11, 2020, in Regina in accordance with Islamic tradition. Sheriff lived an accomplished life, devoted to his profession and family. He was born and spent his youth in Guyana, until he left for Ireland to attend medical school. Sheriff returned to Guyana where he enjoyed a thriving medical practice. In 1970, he married his young bride, Mariam; this past summer, they celebrated their 50th year wedding anniversary. In 1975, they moved to Canada, and eventually settled in Churchbridge, SK. It was here that Sheriff raised his family and established his longest-standing medical practice. He embraced the community and considered Churchbridge to be his home. Sheriff spent his last 15 years in Regina, and retired at 87 years old. In his last few years, he spent precious time with his wife, children, grandsons and friends. Flowers and donations most gratefully declined.
