Mr. Doug Smith, a resident of Wallaceburg, after a courageous battle with cancer Doug passed away suddenly on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at the age of 66 years. He was born in Chatham and was a son of the late Ed and Kathleen (McGrail) Smith. Beloved husband of Kathy (Hereygers) Smith. Loving father of Tina (Keith) Myers, Stacy Smith and Kristin (Derrick) Vanderkley. Dear grandfather of Seth, Paige, Brayden and another to be welcomed soon. He will be sadly missed by his little boy “Buddy”. Kind brother of Chuck (the late Wanda) Smith and Betty (the late Steven) Henry and brother-in-law of John (Julie) Hereygers. Uncle of Lauren, Amanda, Edward, Ian, Leslie and Kyle. Doug had worked at Oxford Automotive for over 25 years in Wallaceburg. He always had a compassionate heart for others especially for those down on their luck.
The late Doug Smith rested at the Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home, 639 Elgin St. Wallaceburg. A private family service will take place with cremation to follow. A public celebration of life will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Crohn’s and Colitis Canada may be left at the funeral home.
