Later in life he was employed by the Mission Services of Hamilton where he worked until retirement. Doug was very involved in his church work, an active Mason in the Springfield and Port Elgin Lodge, and volunteered with the VON Hospice.
Cherished husband of Jackie (Crandall) for 64 years. Loving father of Gary and highly thought of by his partner Mary. Sadly missed by his nieces, nephews and friends. Doug was predeceased by his sisters Peggy (Lloyd) George, Shirley Ann Dale, Lynn Humphrey and his parents Lloyd and Eva (Chapman) Franklin.
A Celebration of Doug’s life will be held in Port Elgin at a later date.
