Doug E.’s Obituary
DOUGLAS EARL WILSON
(June 20, 1932 – May 1, 2020)
Douglas Earl Wilson, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away in Fairview Hospital on May 1st just seven weeks shy of his 88th birthday with Estella his wife of 67 years, at his side.
Doug was born in Fairview on June 20th 1932 to Bill and Agnes Wilson. He spent most of his life in the Whitelaw area, growing up on the farm in Golden Meadow and taking it over in 1962 where he continued to live until his death.
Doug spent most winter months of the late 1950’s as cat operator for Estabrook Construction, working in the Territories, and north and east of Peace River. In1958 or 1959, he did cat work for the construction of the Dunvegan Bridge. In the winter months of the 1960’s, he hauled fuel to oil companies in the Red Earth, Zama, High Level areas.
Doug enjoyed travelling, and was ready to go at the drop of a hat. There were trips across Canada, and the USA. He would willingly take anyone who was interested on a road trip north. It gave him great enjoyment, and he made many memories from meeting people along the way.
Doug was predecease by his parents, Bill and Agnes Wilson, his youngest daughter Karen Clegg, his brother George, his parents-in-law Jess and Agnes Mabee, two brothers-in-law Willie Hall and Roy Mabee, two sisters-in-law, Helen Hall, and Marilyn Mabee, and nephew Blaine Aitken
Doug is survived by his wife Estella, his children Luella (Steve) Vetsch, Bruce (Trudy) Wilson, Hazel Wilson, Helen (Lee) Johnson, son-in law Ben Clegg, his sister Joan (Jim)Aitken of Kelowna, sister-in-law Patricia Wilson of Fairview, 16 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at the Whitelaw cemetery at 2:00 pm on Thursday May 14, 2020. The cemetery directions: Hwy 2, to RR12 north 0.8km
