Dorothy Mae McLaren was born in Maidstone on April 12, 1952 to Charlie and Hettie Richardson. She was raised on the farm east of Maidstone and was the 5th child of seven in her family.
Dorothy had two children, Stacey and Darcy, before she married the love of her life Les McLaren in 1976. Together they had one daughter Holly. Dorothy farmed side by side with her husband until they retired to their cabin at Makwa Lake in 1997. In 2004 they made their last move into the Village of Loon Lake where they were welcomed into the neighbour “hood”.
Dorothy enjoyed get togethers with family and friends, time spent at their campsite at Boa Lake, fishing,
dancing and travelling.
Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, Hettie and Charlie; two brothers, Ken and George, her son Darcy and two great grandchildren, Hurley and Isaiah.
Dorothy is survived by her loving husband Les McLaren; her daughters, Stacey Gunville and Holly (Darrel) Moore, her grandchildren Josh, Eric, Coda and Austin; her siblings Glen (Val) Richardson, Margaret Boggust, Robin (Maureen) Richardson and Ruby (Rob) McKay; her Mother in-law, Daphne McLaren; Brother in-laws and sister in-law as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins; and many special friends.
