An angel on earth has now become an angel in Heaven
Dorothy (Dot) Lorraine Davyduke (nee Blackburn) born June 21 1938 Deceased August 15, 2020
Born in North Enderby on the first day of summer in 1938 to Austin and Grace Blackburn, Dorothy joined her older sister Marie “Sis” and was later joined by another younger sister Judy “Deed”. A short time later the young family moved to Hupel, near Mabel Lake, onto what is now Schalin’s dairy farm. Shortly after high school graduation in 1956 Dot began her lifelong passion of being a caregiver when she started nursing school to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. Dot married Elmer Davyduke in October of 1959 and within a couple of years they moved to the farm at the end of Inch Logan Road, in the shadow of the Enderby Cliffs, where Dot remained until her passing. Dot and Elmer and family continued ranching, farming and logging and in 1989 Elmer suffered a serious logging injury that left him an incomplete quadriplegic. Dot was his caregiver for 18 years until Elmer passed away in 2007.
In 2013 Dot and Alfred Hobbs, a childhood friend from the early days at Hupel, reconnected and decided to be playmates again. They married in August of 2014. Dot passed away at Salmon Arm Hospital with family by her side.
Dorothy is predeceased by both her parents and sisters Marie Olich (George) and Judy Farynuk (Gary). She is survived by her spouse, Alfred Hobbs, son, Grant Davyduke (Sherri) and daughter Lynne Holmes (Dan) and grandchildren Kirstyn, Kalvin, Jack and Rhett, as well as many loving extended family and friends. Dot was well known for her open loving heart, selfless caring and concern for others, and will be fondly remembered by many.
