Obituary
Doris Stevens Albers was born on September 23, 1926 to William and Mary Stevens. She was the fifth of six children.
Doris was the last granddaughter of James Gadsby, a pioneer legend in this area. She was very proud of her family history and the fact that she lived most of her life on her family farm. This farm was in her family for over 100 years. She farmed with her two aunts and worked very hard. She was also very proud of her native heritage.
Doris enjoyed gardening and harvesting her fruit trees. She collected antique glassware and had an extensive doll collection. She was famous for her Sunday dinners and chocolate cake. She could feed an enormous crew.
She enjoyed camping with family. They made frequent trips to British Columbia during fruit season to pick fresh fruit to can.
When they slowed down the farm work, Doris took a job at the Bashaw Hospital in dietary as a cook for ten years.
Three years ago, Doris moved into Bashaw Meadows. There, she loved playing Bingo, doing puzzles, and visiting. She met some good friends there.
On April 29, 1947 she married Ross Albers and together, they had two children, Debbie and Dale. They also had four granddaughters: Doreen, Vicky, Sheila, and Doris; and two great-grandsons, Joseph and Darrell. Doris had three special nieces: Beth, Rhonda, and Rae; as well as many other nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service to celebrate Doris’ life will be held at a later date when pubic gatherings are permitted.
