Doris’ Obituary
Burke, Doris Jeanette- 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 5,2020 at The Meadows, Yarmouth. Born in Port Bickerton she was a daughter of the late Everett and Lucille (Hiltz) Corkum. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She lived in Louisburg for many years, then on to the Mira where she ran a Bed & Breakfast before moving to Shelburne 28 years ago. Doris was proclaimed a piano prodigy at the age of 4. She loved knitting, quilting , puzzles and attending Gospel meetings with her friend Rose Moulaison .She was a member of the Friendship Singers and cherished her memories with her good friend, Robert MacKay .Doris was a wonderful cook. She enjoyed looking through her bird book and feeding the birds. In her younger years she and her husband William enjoyed many hours beachcombing. She enjoyed being surrounded by her family. Doris is survived by sons, Terry and Darren Burke; daughter, Mona (Bill); sister, Marjorie Elliott; grandchildren, Tasha( Justin Nickerson); Krista; grandchildren, Jason( Erin); Paul( Jaymie) Burke; great-children, Hudson & Kenzie, Emma & Jacob, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her spouse, William; a son in infancy and sister, Ramona MacLeod. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, November 10 at 11:00 A.M. in the Gospel Hall, Sydney. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney. Memorial donations may be made to the Carmen Faith Memorial Fund. The family would like to say a special thank you to Mary’s Adide-A-while, Roseway Hospital and The Meadows for their compassionate care of mom. Also thank you to H.M.
