Doris Isobel Behnke Tulloch Thursday August 13th 2020 avis de deces

BEHNKE, Doris (nee Tulloch)
Dear Family & Friends
Our hearts are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our precious mother, Doris Behnke, who went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 13, 2020, just two months before her 99th birthday! She is now happily reunited with her husband, Lawrence, who passed away in October of 1983.
Mom was the second eldest in her family, and was predeceased by her parents, Walter & Millie Tulloch, and all of her siblings, Nolene Warnock (Orville), Gladdie Tompson (Walter), Woody (Ruby), Enid Asselin (Ivan), Jimmy (Shirley), Shirley McTavish (Floyd), Flora Dionisi (Bob), Frank (Reta surviving).
All ten of her children remain to cherish her memory, Garnet, Dale (Farhina), Jerry (Marilyn), Lyle (Beverly), Gloria Kolari (Rick), Lorne (Ruth), Janice Gamble (Gary), Byron (Sue), Elaine Bouchard (Claude), Corinne Clement (Tom).
As if ten kids weren’t enough, Mom was bursting with pride as the grandmother of 29, and great-grandmother of 46, and the great-great-grandmother of 2! Mom will always hold a very special place in their hearts, as she always took a personal interest in each of them.
Gatchell (Sudbury) was home to the Behnkes for many years, but after all the children were grown, and Dad retired in September of 1976, they moved to Iron Bridge, where Mom was born. She lived happily there on the Tulloch homestead in the house that Lawrence built for her until her move to the Golden Birches in Blind River in September of 2018.
Mom will long be remembered as the constant, loving, stabilizing force in her family and among her friends. Her love for God was always first and foremost, and she translated that love to everyone she met. Her life was dedicated to living for others, and thought nothing of putting herself last, or completely ignoring her own needs. Her practical and matter-of-fact approach to life remains as an example to all of how to simplify and conquer any situation. Mom was always a no-frills kind of woman, but she certainly knew how to make a person feel loved and welcomed in her home. Her door was always open to family, friends, and strangers alike. If you needed a place to grab a meal or lay your head for the night, 38 Eley Road was the best pit stop on Hwy. 17!!! Mom was a straight shooter, and could get away with voicing her strong opinions, (and she had lots of them), because they were always backed up with care and concern. She never stopped expressing her thankfulness for the ten children she was blessed with, and would often say in her later years, “It takes all ten of them to take care of an old lady like me”! Mom was our Queen….the cream of our crop, and we can hardly imagine life without her.
With all our love,
The Behnke Family
