Obituary of Dora Mae Whiting
WHITING, Dora Mae
(nee Corteen)
November 7, 1934 – May 27, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved great-grandmother, grandmother, mother, wife, aunt, cousin and friend.
Dora was born in Adair Saskatchewan , daughter of Mabel (Pollock) and Robert Corteen and sister to Mona (Morrow). A Prairie Girl, Dora spent her early years in Kennedy and McLean before moving to Regina to complete her education.
Dora was working in Regina when she married Jack (1957) and became mother to four boys Mark (Mavis), Todd (Samantha), Kyle (Tricia) and Dean. Dora cared deeply about her family and was able to raise four young boys and somehow found time to further educate herself and attained a Teaching Certificate and Real Estate License.
Dora spent countless hours compiling historical context for our families for generations to come. She was an avid historian, reader and family genealogist tracking her family’s history to the 1600’s in the Isle of Man. Dora was a proud Canadian, prolific writer and kept our large extended family in her thoughts and connected.
Dora, Jack and the boys spent summers at Regina Beach and enjoyed countless days on the water, cook outs and family functions. In 2006 Dora and Jack relocated to Richmond , B.C. but returned to Saskatchewan each summer to spend time with friends and family at the cottage.
Dora always put everyone before herself and supported her family and loving husband of 63 years without condition. She loved her family and was especially proud of her grandchildren; Ashley (John), Kalan (Heather & Ava), Ethan, Sebastian, Kieran and great-grandchild Brenna.
Dora was extremely close to her late sister Mona and her family; husband Ken Morrow, niece Sharon (Bernie-deceased) and family, and nephew David (Lynn) and family, all of whom were loved as her own. Dora embraced Jack’s large family and enjoyed their company and family gatherings. Jack’s surviving sisters Pat, Ethel and families have been a great support, and Dora enjoyed friendships with Jack’s late siblings Maurice, Gordon, Percy, Bill, Elsie, Joan and their families.
Dora loved to chat and her conversations will be sorely missed. She loved us all, but had the ability to make each feel special in their own way. Your sacrifice, commitment and love will not be forgotten. You did a great job – Rest Easy!
Dora’s Celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In Lieu of flowers or donations, Dora may be remembered through random acts of kindness.
The Family would like to thank the staff at Haven House in Wintergreene Estates for the care and humor they extended to Dora during her stay.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Dora
