Obituary of Donald Charles Booth
We celebrate the life of Donald Charles Booth who transitioned to his heavenly home on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 in Regina, SK.
Don was born in 1934 in Dahilda, SK. He grew up and lived in the Ogema, SK area. Don married Thelma on November 10, 1956. Together, they had four children Darrell, Karen (Ray), Kevin and Donna (Doug) of Everett, WA and 6 grandchildren Graham, Lauren, Jesse, James (Sarah), Jack and Luke. Don was predeceased by his son Darrell in December 2016; mother and father Robert and Mae Booth; brothers Raymond, Walter and Robert; sisters Dorothy and Elsie.
Don Booth was a man who loved his family, and was proud of each of his children, sons in law, and grandchildren. He especially loved his wife Thelma, and as they were advancing in age, he did all he could to care for her and protect her. He loved to spend time with their close friends, enjoying lunches together, doing bible studies, praying for one another and just doing life together with them all. He had wonderful neighbors which he referred to as Marge and Lockie, who cared for him and Thelma both and he could not have been more thankful for that.
Don began a relationship with Jesus in the early 80’s and from that time, his life changed dramatically. He loved people, and oh how he loved to make his jokes, and had his quick wittedness around them. He was authentically “Don” and for that we are grateful. He lived life to the best that he knew how.
Don and Thelma served as custodians at the Regina Christian School and loved to be there. He so enjoyed being with the teachers and especially the children of that school. He would tease and have fun with the kids and loved all of it. He cared for them and would help them anyway he could.
Don and Thelma also attended the Regina Apostolic Church in Regina for many years. With a heart to serve the Lord and be a help to the people that attended there, he volunteered as an usher and served faithfully for many years. He was always willing to help when called upon. He loved his church family and was a support to the Leadership of his church.
Don worked for Paragon Funeral Services after his early retirement from Sask Power. He enjoyed working there for many years and always said that he wished that he had done that job for a living. He so enjoyed reaching out to the many people that he encountered with this job and tried to share love and some joy to help them with the sorrow of losing their loved ones. He made many friends with his coworkers and maintained happy relationships with them after his retirement from Paragon. He so appreciated the close relationships that he established with Miles Ernst and his wife Louise, Harold, Trevor and Rhonda. He was treated as family by Miles and Louise and we are so thankful for that care.
Dad, on behalf of your family, we honor you, and say thank you for all your love. And what you taught us all through the years. You did the best you knew how to do. Thank God for His grace and love in your life, and for the new life you now are enjoying. Have fun there Dad. Jesus will love you teasing Him. We will miss you but know we will see you again in the future. We love you Dad!
Don will be honored at a Private Family Graveside with a Memorial Service to be held at a later date where friends and extended family will be welcome to come Celebrate Don’s Life. In lieu of flowers, donations in Don’s memory may be made to the Regina Christian School.
