Obituary
Donald Raymond McCleary, 84, passed away suddenly on Thursday May 14, 200 at his home in Calgary, Alberta.
Don was born July 2, 1935 in Calgary, Alberta and was a lifelong area resident. His first and only job in the work force was at Calgary Drafting Supplies starting in 1950 at the age of 15 as a delivery driver. He worked in many positions throughout the company and retired from Caldraft in 2000 at the age of 65. He joined a Kiwanis Club in Calgary for a brief time and then moved to the Calgary East Rotary Club in 1977. There he was an active member until his passing. During his time in Rotary he held many positions as President, Treasurer and Casino Director plus many more. He volunteered and/or helped organize many events held by the club including Pancake Breakfasts, Casinos, Rotary Youth Exchanges, Student Scholarship Program and Global Fest to mention a few. He also traveled and took part in a few International Events around the world.
Don is survived by his first wife, Lenore McCleary; son, Scott (Chantale) McCleary; daughter, Teresa McCleary; two grandchildren, Darcy (Rachel) McCleary & Marla (Jonathan) Cote; three step-grandchildren, Madison, Ashlea & Delaney Schaeffer; six great-grandchildren, Sydnie, Levi & Bentley McCleary, Paisley, Keira & Hayden Cote; and brother, Cecil (Margaret) McCleary.
Don is predeceased in death by his parents, Beatrice ‘Bea’ and Loren ‘Happy’ McCleary; brothers, George, Harry, Brian, Cliff, Gerry and sister, Florence ‘Tiny’ Holmberg.
