Obituary
Dianna Kathrine Nephew
September 3, 1950 – October 21, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dianna Kathrine Nephew (nee Golembiosky) at home at the age of 70, following a courageous battle with cancer.
She is survived by her loving husband Bob, sister Louise (Ralph) Miller, niece Elaine (Brent) Miller, nephew Ryan (Sonja) Miller and their two children Blake and Emma. She was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Eugenie Golembiosky and mother-in-law Nancy (Robert) Nephew.
She will be dearly missed by father-in-law Robert, brother-in-law David Nephew (Brenda), their son Ryan (Laura), brother-in-law Michael Nephew (Carolyn), their children Jennifer (Cynthia), Garret (Josie), Allison, Auriel and Joe as well as her many, many friends.
Dianna was born in Taber, Alberta and grew up on the family farm near Vauxhall, where she developed her love of horses. After graduating from Vauxhall High School, she attended the University of Lethbridge. Upon graduation, she moved to Calgary, where she worked in the oil and gas related industry, including The Roughneck, Renaissance Energy, Trans Canada Pipelines and finally Western Gas Marketing. She retired in 2003.
It was during this time she met her soulmate and the love of her life Bob. They were married on August 27, 1994, in Calgary. In 1997 they purchased an acreage south of the city where they were thrilled to create the home of their dreams.
Dianna developed a love for golf, which included a long-time membership at Cottonwood Golf and Country Club, where she served on the Lady’s executive in several capacities. She created many friendships there and became an integral part of a group called the Divas.
Dianna loved to ride horseback, play bridge with her friends and looked forward to her annual get-together with the Girlie Girls.
Together Bob and Dianna developed their property where they landscaped, gardened and made their life. Family and friends loved to visit for special occasions, games days, campfires and the occasional members.
Dianna loved Las Vegas and Palm Desert. Together with Bob and other family members, she travelled extensively, including France, Spain, Italy, Peru, Mexico, the Caribbean, Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand.
Dianna had an extremely positive outlook on life and an infectious laugh, which affected all those around her. She was a ray of sunshine and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
A private family celebration of life will be held on October 30th at 1:00 pm. To join the celebration via Zoom, RSVP to amber@snodgrassfuneralhomes.com for the link.
