DEMPSTER Walter Cunnis —

DEMPSTER, Walter Cunnis

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Walter Cunnis Dempster after a long, difficult battle with cancer. He passed peacefully on December 3, 2020, at age 81, with family by his side.
Walter led an accomplished life serving the public. He was an Air Cadet member, a teacher, and a member of the RCMP. He attended RCMP boot camp in Ottawa and spent time policing in Alberta and Delta, BC. He eventually left the RCMP to attend UBC Law School graduating in 1972. He practiced law in the Lower Mainland before moving to Kelowna, BC in 1979 where he was a Crown Prosecutor until his retirement.
As a long time member of the Kelowna Yacht Club he enjoyed days on the lake with family and friends. He was a cheeky jokester with a healthy sense of humor. Walt organized “Booze Cruises” and was responsible for several “Invasions” of the other local yacht clubs where good times were had by all. He was an avid hockey fan and in his retirement enjoyed RVing.
Walter was a dedicated and devoted friend and went to great lengths to help and support them when needed.
He is predeceased by his wife Judy (d. 2004) and is loved, greatly missed and remembered by his spouse Carol Ava Dyer; and his children Walter John, Karen Louise (Wayne), and Patricia Ann (John); and twin grandsons Adam and Gavin.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, likely spring/summer 2021.
