Obituary of David Lyle Hopkins
HOPKINS, DAVID LYLE – Age 77
It is with sadness and heavy hearts the family of David Lyle Hopkins announce his sudden passing December 21, 2020 at his home in West Lahave, Nova Scotia. Brenda (Seamone), his loving wife of 54 years was by his side. David was born in Bridgewater on December 5, 1943, the son of the late Lyle and Vera (Coulthard) Hopkins.
He was Vice President of the former Acadia Road Contractors Limited of Hebbville, N.S. where he had spent his entire working career. During this time, he and Brenda raised their three devoted sons and made many dear friends along the way. He eventually retired to his favorite spot, the cottage. He loved entertaining family and friends, watching the river flow by from his deck and occasionally leaving to follow his grandchildren’s activities. David was a true, honest gentleman. His hospitality, quick wit, sense of humour and well researched advice will be missed by all. Besides Brenda, he is survived by sons Jeffrey (Heather), Gregory (Kim), Peter (Paula); cherished grandchildren Kristen, Lauren, Ryan, Kyle, Hailee; brother Donald, sister-in-law Barbara Lunn and brother-in-law John (Evelyn) Seamone and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their special appreciation to N.P. Cheryl Soroka, Dr. Edward Joy, and special thanks to Dr. Debra Gowan and Kim Berkeley of the South Shore Area Palliative Care for their wonderful treatment during his brief time in their care.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater, N.S. Due to Covid protocol and restrictions, there will be no visitation, and an interment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to South Shore Area Palliative Care, South Shore Regional Hospital Foundation or to SHAID Tree Animal Shelter.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of David Lyle Hopkins 2020..
