Obituary
Born in Ottawa, as a young man Dave travelled to the north in search of adventure. He lived in Yellowknife for many years before moving to Calgary in 1987. Dave was known for his good nature, energy, curiosity and sense of humour. An outdoors enthusiast, he paddled many Northern rivers and enjoyed family hikes and camping trips in the Rocky Mountains, Kootenays, on Vancouver Island, and many river and surf kayak trips with Mitchell.
A skilled homebuilder, journeyman electrician, problem solver, and inventor who could fix anything (and always in his own unique way), Dave cheerfully helped out countless friends and family over the years. After a traumatic brain injury in 2012, Dave worked hard to manage significant physical and cognitive impairments while still maintaining his free spirited nature. He touched the lives of so many and was truly one of a kind.
Deeply loved by his daughters, Amy and Helen, his wife Robin, and his two granddaughters. Dave is also survived by his sisters Lynne, Beverly, Elizabeth and Paula. He was predeceased by his son Mitchell and his parents, Dorothy and Louis.
