Clarence

Obituary for
Clarence Kordyban
Born August 18, 1934 in Waugh, Alberta to Stephania and Michael Kordyban. Clarence grew up in a family with 7 brothers and sisters. Alma, Katherine, Sylvia, Josephine, Mary, John, and William. Clarence met his loving wife Olga, and they married on the 27th of July, 1957. Olga and Clarence initially built upon their union through farming and owning and operating the local Chrysler dealership in Thorhild, Alberta. Clarence worked hard throughout his entire life, along side Olga, farming and operating a dealership. Clarence would supplement any downtime he had by owning and operating a caterpillar. Which he worked with around the Thorhild area doing various excavation projects. Clarence and Olga then expanded their work interests into driving school bus for Thorhild County. They loved driving school bus and meeting all the smiling faces of children so much, they drove jointly for 25 years.
Their love of children extended into their own home, in the way of three beautiful children, Wayne, Reg, and Carol. The family of five decided to move from the farm homestead into the town of Thorhild. Clarence continued to Farm, however his lifetime love of automobiles brought him to purchase the General Motors dealership in Smoky Lake, Alberta. Clarence eagerly went into business with his oldest son Wayne, and Wayne’s wife Bonnie, where the three of them operated the General Motors dealership along side eachother. With Clarence’s second son, Reg, now running the family farm, Clarence still enjoyed planting crops and raising Cattle with his son.
Olga and Clarence were blessed with three amazing grandsons. Wesley and Jesse, sons of Wayne and Bonnie, and Jake, son of Terry and Carol. They then received the joy of one great granddaughter, Elliana Kordyban, daughter of Wesley. Clarence was forever so proud of his grandchildren, and enjoyed many vacations with Olga and the 3 grandsons. The 5 of them did several trips to Fairmont hot springs, as well as numerous fishing trips to the beautiful B.C. coast. These memories, and the time spent with their Gido and Baba will always be cherished by the boys.
One of Clarence’s most prized accomplishments was receiving his pilots licence, and operating his own small plane. He most enjoyed flying into remote lakes to fish, and frequently shared that passion with his friends and family.
Later in life, Clarence and Olga made the decision to move to Edmonton. Clarence “semi-retired” from the Smoky Lake General Motors dealership, but still somehow managed to show up back at the dealership everyday to supervise and visit with customers. Clarence and Olga purchased a home in Edmonton minutes away from Carol and Terry. This afforded them the opportunity of watching their youngest grandchild, Jake, grow by the day.
Clarence was a man of many hobbies and passions. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, gardening, and spending time with friends. He was the main endorser of the saying “work hard and play harder.” Clarence and Olga enjoyed travelling and shared several trips around the world together.
Clarence is predecieced by his grandson Wesley Kordyban, along with his brothers and sisters. He will be forever loved by his wife Olga, sons Wayne (Bonnie) and Reg, daughter Carol (Terry), grandsons Jesse and Jake, and great granddaughter Elliana. As well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be Private due to Covid. A Celebration of Clarence’s life will be held following the end of covid restrictions.
