Memorial Donation
At the age 84, Clara Matthews of Port aux Basques died peacefully in her sleep on March 22nd, 2020 and gained her angel wings. She didn’t drive but we are certain she can fly. Clara was predeceased by her parents Philip and Beatrice Voutier, brothers Tom, Cyril, Don, Wilfred and sister Dorthy. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Clara wore many hats and probably made a few as well. She was quite an accomplished seamstress and knitter and could make anything she put her mind too. She was always on speed dial to help a friend trouble shoot their latest projects. Clara was also an awesome cook and baker. She would do anything for anyone and go without herself to help a friend or family she thought needed it. She loved to travel, have a good laugh, a game of cards and a little scuff on the floor from time to time. One of her greatest joys in life was becoming a grandmother. She adored her grandchildren and they adored her. Clara is survived by her husband Rex, son Brian Matthews (Marilyn), daughters Deborah (Bruce), Sharon (Gary), grandchildren, Matty, Garrett, Mitchell, great grandchildren Kenya and Summer Rose, brothers Clyde, Roy (Linda) and sister Olive, and a large number of nephews, nieces and friends.
