It is with great sadness that the family of the late Chesley Hubert James Heath, age 88, of Robert’s Arm, NL announces his passing from the Green Bay Health Care Centre, Springdale on October 31, 2020.
Chesley was born on May 11, 1932 to Peter and Ruth Heath of Beaumont. He married Marion Colbourne on December 27, 1955. They had six children together, five sons and one daughter, all of whom will miss him greatly.
Chesley always worked hard to care for his family. At various times in his life, he was a logger, fisherman, miner, and carpenter. He was a man accustomed to working long hours to provide for his family’s needs.
Chesley loved the outdoors. He especially enjoyed moose-hunting, rabbit-catching, and berry-picking, while exploring the woods roads. He always cut his own firewood, as well as materials for boat-building. He took great pride in the boat-building skills he had learned as a youth from his father. Chesley was known for the fine boats he crafted.
Chesley spent a lot of time on the water, both working with his brother Ford, as well as for personal enjoyment. He would often collect mussels for winter and cook them up on the beach. Sometimes the whole family would have a trip in boat with a boil-up on the shore.
He was predeceased by his parents Peter and Ruth Heath; step-father Llewellyn Collett; sisters Mabel Heath, Dorothy Heath; half-sister Rita Lannon.
Chesley leaves to mourn his wife Marion Heath; children Austin (Phyllis) Heath, Angus (Janice) Heath, Alvin (Maxine) Heath, Bonnie (Chester) Thomas, Barry (Jacqueline) Heath, Jeffrey (Annette) Heath; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brothers Ambrose (Renate) Heath, Ford (Hazel) Heath, Bruce (Bonnie) Heath, Harold (Sherry) Heath; sisters Francis Ryan, Hilda (Murray) Burton; step-sisters Margaret Crann, Louise Lush; as well as many other relatives and friends.
