Obituary
HAYDEN
Charlene (Charlie) Irene Hayden passed away peacefully in palliative care at the Calgary South Campus Hospital on June 16, 2020 at the age of 67 after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Charlene was born in Rimbey, raised on an acreage in Bluffton where she attended school through Junior High (accelerating on the basketball team) and then went on to High School in Rimbey.
In 1971 Charlene met the love of her life, Rod Hayden, which lead to marriage in 1972 and thereafter raised two children on the Hayden farm. In 1985, she and her family moved to Red Deer where she attended Reeves Business College, passing with honours. After being involved with a business start up where she was the Administrative Director, she and the family moved to Calgary as the business grew and expanded. Eventually through years of experience she became the Customer Service Administrator at Boardwalk Properties Head Office where she worked until retirement in 2015. Charlene was fondly remembered for the skill she had to compassionately aid people, helping them to solve problems and coming to agreeable resolutions.
Her passion for creating, designing and arranging brought much joy to her, her family, neighbours and many others through the numerous projects which she undertook.
Over the years, she had the opportunity to travel fairly extensively in North America with overseas trips to New Zealand, Fiji and Hawaii. She always looked forward to new adventures.
Charlene is survived by her loving husband Rod; her son Kyle; her daughter, Kimberley Parczen (Brian): two grandchildren – Jacinda Parczen, Gabriel Parczen; her mother Irene Cross; two sisters, Shannon Cross, Sherry Bilous (Manfred); two brothers, Randy Cross (Karen), Blaine Cross (Donita); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Charlene was predeceased by her father, Harold Cross; her brother, Allan Cross; her nephew, Terrance Cross; her niece, Leaira Wilson.
The family would like to express gratitude to the doctors, nurses and all other staff at the Tom Baker Clinic, the Foothills Medical Center and South Campus Hospital who attended to Charlene’s needs and took such excellent care of her. Instead of gifting flowers, we suggest a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or another charity of your choice.
