Catherine Dawn Geldart
1953-2020
Catherine Dawn Geldart, known to many as
“Normie”, 66 years, of Petitcodiac, passed away at the
Moncton Hospital on October 16, 2020. Normie grew up in Elgin, NB and
was the daughter of the late Conrad and Vera (Mattinson) Geldart. She
was predeceased by her loving partner, Tony Dwyer.
Normie graduated from the Saint John School of
Nursing in 1973. During her career she worked as a nurse in Inuvik
NWT, at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, and at the Lethbridge
Regional Hospital. The bulk of her career was at the Grace Maternity
Hospital in Halifax. She was also a proud member of the EHS Lifeflight
team in Halifax, NS.
After she retired, Normie and Tony moved to
Petitcodiac, NB, where she was able to reconnect with old friends and
make many new ones. Tony and Normie were avid supporters of local
musicians and found their home within the local music
scene.
Normie is survived by her son, Matthew Conrad
Rockwell of Halifax, NS; brother, Dwight Geldart (Angela Comish) of
Elgin NB; nephew, Lucas Conrad Geldart of Sus, NB; and many close
cousins.
A special thank you to those who provided care and
comfort to Normie throughout her illness, especially her family
physician, Dr. Ravneet Comstock.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private Graveside
Service will be held at the Maplewood Cemetery, Petitcodiac, NB. A
Celebration of Normie’s life will be held at a later date.
Arrangements in care of the Salisbury Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations made toward Mental
Health & Addiction Services or a charity of your choice would
