Carrie’s Obituary
CROOK, Carrie Edna (Clark Acker) ~ age 87, formally of Kingston, NS passed away on December 7, 2020 in Grand View Manor, Berwick. Her struggle with vascular dementia is over and she is now at peace. Born in Middleton on October 17, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Brenton and Nellie (Fisher) Clark. Carrie was a member of the Kingston Baptist Church where she taught the Kindergarten Sunday School class for 40+ years. She loved each and every child that she taught. She loved collecting dog ornaments and acquired well over 1,000 in her lifetime. She is survived by her son, Richard Acker, Kingston; her daughter, Cheryl (Bryan) Theriau, Canaan; grandsons, Christopher (Katie Pistor) Theriau, Orangeville, ON; Adam (Emily) Acker, Kingston; Gregory (Jennie Hynes) Theriau, Ottawa, ON; Andrew (Kirsten Walker) Acker, Sackville; great grandson, Theodore (Theo) Acker, Kingston; sisters, Marilyn Nauss, Berwick and Patricia Samuel, Halifax; brother, George (Shirley) Clark, Edmonton, AB; sister-in-laws, Eileen Clark, Stellarton and Kathleen Barteaux, Torbrook; and numerous nieces and nephews, who she loved dearly. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Calvin Acker and second husband, Allan Crook; brothers, Frederick Clark and Howard Clark. The family would like to thank the staff of Grand View Manor, in particular the Winslow Unit, for the wonderful care given to our mom for the last three years. You provided a safe, secure, loving home when we no longer could provide that. Words can never express our gratitude to all of you. Donations in memory may be made to Grand View Manor, Kingston Baptist Church or the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. Family flowers only please. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, December 11, 2020 in the North Kingston Cemetery with Rev. Leon Langille officiating. For those unable to attend in person, a live webcast of the service will be available for viewing on the funeral home website at 10:55 p.m. AST by selecting the “Live Stream” option at the top of the home page.
