Caroline (Carole) Annette Miller (nee Chodak)
Carole, eldest child to Martha and Wesley Chodak, was born at the Westlock Hospital on July 25, 1945. The family later grew to include 8 other brothers and sisters; Rose, Joyce, Adrienne, Marjorie (Bill), Robert, Phyllis (Terry), Sandy (Tricia) and Kathryn (John). Carole and her family lived off the bounty of their family farm and it is where she learnt many of her perfected crafts. Specifically, her Ukrainian culinary skills (past-down from her mother and her Baba Dutchak), sewing and tailoring skills and her ability to grow the most magnificent vegetable/flower gardens and berry patches.
Carole married the love of her life, Benjamin Robert Miller on August 14, 1964. Ben and Carole proudly raised two children Debbie (Jeffrey) and Trevor (Lora) on their own family farm west of Pibroch. Carole and Ben were successful Select Seed Growers for many years and she provided for her family with her own bounties collected from her gardens, her kitchens and her sewing craft room. These bounties were later created for the great enjoyment of her six beloved grandchildren; Madison, Olivia, Reid, Ellie, Keaton and Quinlan.
Together Carole and Ben drew much satisfaction from giving back to their community. Namely becoming leaders in the 4-H club and from contributing to their cherished Hazelbluff Hall, where many community dances and events were held and which hold their fondest memories and times spent with friend/neighbors and family.
Carole left us on Feb 25, 2020 to join her parents and sister Marjorie in Heaven. Her essence will forever be remembered by her undeniable and devoted love of family. In her memory, we asked donations in lieu of flowers to be made to The Kidney Foundation of Canada.
A Service to celebrate Carole’s Life will be held Friday, March 6, 2020 at 2:00 pm in the Westlock Memorial Hall, 9903 106 Street, Westlock, AB
