Obituary of Bruce Marks
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that his family announces the passing of Bruce Marks.
Devoted husband of the late Lucy Marks (nee) Muccilli (2001). He will be missed always by his daughter Cheryl Marks his granddaughter Jamie Dorscht (Jake Sylvestre) and his grandson Austin “Wilbur” Marks. All of whom were with him at his home when he passed. He was a generous and caring Papa to everyone that knew him. He enjoyed spending time with his great-grandsons Hayden, Liam and Cooper. Bruce will also be dearly missed by many longtime friends and extended family members.
For more than 70 years Bruce could be found behind the grill at The Harmony Lunch in Waterloo. His father Harry Marks started the restaurant in 1930. Bruce took ownership in the 70s and was there most every day until he retired in 2016. The Harmony was truly his “happy place”.
Summers were spent at Wasaga Beach, a special place for Bruce because that is where he met Lucy. Playing horseshoes going to the beach and relaxing with friends and family at “The Cottage”.
Bruce was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 530 Waterloo.
He was a loyal Blue Jays fan and a longtime supporter of many local sports teams including Waterloo Minor Baseball and Women’s fastball. Most notably the Kitchener Kieswetters for whom he served as president of the executive. In 1984 he received the Harold Bowman Memorial award for his support and dedication to the sport.
As per his wish, he was cremated and a private family graveside service will be held at Parkview Cemetery. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
Condolences for the family and Memorial donations to the Grand River Hospital Cancer Foundation or The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 530 may be arranged through the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
