Brian

Obituary of Brian Harry Norman
It is with great sadness that the Norman family announce the passing of Brian at his Grand Falls – Windsor home on Monday June 15 at the age of 66. Brian was predeceased by his parents Jasper and Gertrude Norman of Botwood; two brothers David and William; brothers- in- law Dr. John Lee, Cyril Greeley, Utley Wheeler, and Charles (Chuck) Hawkins; and his great nephew, Connor Lee. Leaving to mourn are seven sisters; Peggy Lee (Jim Johnson), Betty (Fred Mathews), Ruby, Margaret Hawkins, Sandra (Gerry Vardy), Linda (Neil Robbins), Helen (Randy Gillespie); two brothers Wayne and Bob (Imelda); many cousins; a large number of nephews and nieces who he cared for deeply; and friends. Like many Newfoundlanders Brian left the province following high school to work for several years in Ontario returning to NL to work as an Inventory Supervisor for TRA food distributors in Grand Falls-Windsor. Last year Brian wanted to celebrate his birthday by having a birthday bash to celebrate his having officially become a senior. With the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks, his life long favourite team, as the theme of the evening Brian danced well into the night, sang a couple of tunes with his brothers, and flirted with the ladies. As with the Blackhawks, if you were a friend of Brian’s you were a friend for life! Brian loved to hunt, fish, and play golf. Most recently as a result of surgery on his foot, Brian gave up the outdoor life and was required to stay closer to home where a favorite pass time was playing cards and boy, did he hate to lose! His love of music was a life long pursuit, singing and playing guitar at the family annual “Bobfest” was a thrill for him. One of his latest projects was copying hundreds of cassette tapes onto a flash drive thus allowing him easier access to his favorite artist. His life was not without its challenges however, there was something about him that made us all standby and help him through. Brian you may be gone but will never be forgotten, we love you.
A private family service will take place. Those wishing to honour Brian are encouraged to donate to the Trinity Unity Church of Botwood’s beautiful stain glass window restoration fund.
