Obituary
With deep and heart-broken sorrow, the family of Brian John Marisett wishes to announce his sudden passing at Kingston General Hospital on Monday, January 20th, 2020 at the age of 62 years.
Beloved husband of 42 years to Leslie (nee Boorman). Loving father to Prue of Kingston and Yuri of Picton. Predeceased by his father, Kenneth Marisett of East Lake, fondly remembered by his mother, Joan Marisett (nee Kleinsteuber). Dear brother of Dennis (Cecilia) of Consecon, Christine Kosman of Picton and Scott (Fiona) of Perth, Western Australia, son-in-law to Bev and Bob Boorman of Picton and brother-in-law to Vicki and Kelly.
Born and raised on the family farm in the community of East Lake, Brian went on to earn certification as a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic. After 15 years in that trade, several of which saw him as owner/operator of Marisett Refrigeration, Brian then immersed himself in two of his greatest passions, certified organic market gardening and politics. During this period he was active in the local municipal government for over 10 years when he served as County Councillor representing first the Township of Athol and then later the Town of Picton. At the same time, he and Leslie operated Marisett Organics with a bustling market stand at Belleville Farmers’ Market as well as a busy farm gate produce stand at their home on East Lake Road. Then, looking forward to a long and peaceful retirement, Brian and Leslie moved to Kingston in 2017.
Brian touched the lives and hearts of many and will be fondly remembered. There will be a “Celebration of Life” held at the Picton United Church Hall from 1:00 to 3:00 pm Saturday, February 22, 2020.
