Bradford’s Obituary
PENNEY, Bradford James – Age 87, of South Side, C.S.I. passed away Tuesday, July 28th, 2020 at Roseway Hospital, Shelburne Co. Born in South Side on November 12th, 1932. He was the son of Lura Penney-Nickerson; Adopted by his Grandfather, Uriah Penney. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Bernice Penney (Maxwell); as well as his brother Lendell (Esther) Penney; and sister, Eleanor (Aubrey) Peterson; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Ralph Nickerson, brother, Fred and sister, Mary. Bradford spent 20 years as a deckhand on the M.V. Bluenose, travelling from Yarmouth, NS to Bar Harbour, Maine U.S.A. He made many friends and great memories while working aboard the Bluenose. Before and after retirement, Bradford and Bernice enjoyed every moment they could camping with great friends at Kejimkujik National Park and Ellenwood Park. As pass time hobbies, Bradford enjoyed watching boxing, feeding the birds, keeping busy around the yard, visiting with family and friends, reading, finishing word puzzles, going to the camp at Jones Harbour where he happily did his chore of washing dishes, and also watching hummingbirds visit the feeder as he sat in “his” chair at home. Anyone who knew Brad knew he had a pure heart of gold. Always loving and accepting of anyone who entered his home, with a glowing smile on his face. Bernice was his pride and joy, and he made sure everyone knew it, too. The Funeral Service will be held at H. M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington, at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 2nd, with Pastor Ron Clark and Pastor David Bartz officiating. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, seating may be limited and social distancing guidelines must be followed. Also, please note that immediate family will be given priority for seating. There will be a livestream of this service on the Huskilson’s website (www.huskilson.net) for those unable to attend due to gathering restrictions. Burial at the Evergreen Cemetery, Lower Clarks Harbour, C.S.I. Family flowers only, any donations may be made to Tri-County VON and Roseway Hospital. Brad’s favorite scripture was Psalm:23.
