Benjamin Loewen Monday April 20th 2020 avis de deces

Dad is survived by his faithful and loving wife Katherine Loewen who has stood by his side for 60 years. He is survived by all five of his children: Linda wed to Ken, Laura to Sig, Val to Greg, Rob to Katy, and Barb to Mike. Additionally, he is survived by his 24 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Dad is also survived by one brother, one sister, and two sisters-in-law.
Dad’s two biggest values were faith and family. His loyalty to God was evident in his everyday life. His faith was unwavering and as a family, we learnt the value of the Christian faith. He had a strong place in his heart for those he loved. He instilled in his children the love and importance of family. He would eagerly anticipate new additions to the family and treasured these little ones when they were born. His love stretched far beyond his wife, children, and grandchildren, as he made sure his many nieces and nephews and all extended family felt this special love as well. He loved to phone his loved ones, and let them know he was thinking of them. Dad was well known for his friendly, outgoing nature. He could make friends with strangers anywhere he went.
We all learned to love the country when we moved from the city to Anola, where we all had to do some homesteading! We learned to love the outdoors and appreciate nature as it was important to Dad and therefore important to us. Camping gave him some of his greatest joys and gave us some of our greatest memories, Dad loved nothing more than to get into their motor-home, point it in a direction and GO, these are some of our parents best memories together. In later years at the cabin, he tamed birds often, much to his delight.
He spent many years working at CPR so now we think of Dad whenever we see trains! His friendly, gentle and caring personality will leave memories for many that loved him. He was also known by the twinkle in his eye and Johnny Cash voice.
As time progressed, dementia set in and we found our father to graciously accept his deterioration and losses in life. When the time came for Dad to need more care than our mother could provide, we chose Kin Place as Dad’s new home. We are all very grateful for the staff at Kin Place for giving him the home and care that our father needed. They were very kind to Dad and provided a service to us as a family which could not replicated. Thank you.
In Lieu of flowers, we will be accepting donations to Hope of Life: A Mission in Guatemala. Please contact Ben’s son, Rob Loewen at rloewen11@gmail.com.
