Obituary of Barbara Cire
Barbara Cire, a lifelong resident of Dawson Creek, BC, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, on Thursday, January 30, 2020, in Rotary Manor, Dawson Creek, BC at the age of 61 years.
Barb was born in Pouce Coupe on February 26, 1958. She grew up and lived on acreage in the Landry area until she moved in with her future husband in 1976. They lived for a few years in the Bessborough area before getting married on June 3rd, 1978. Then on Christmas eve of 1979 they moved into town where they lived for almost the next 15 years. It was in 1994 her and her family returned to the Landry area to that very same acreage to live in the same home that she had grown up in.
Barb had two grandchildren which were the loves of her life. She absolutely treasured every moment that she was able to spend with them. Her favorites were reading stories with them, baking cookies for them, sewing stuffed animals for them, roasting hotdogs outside on the fire and swinging with them on the swings.
It wasn’t just her grandchildren that meant a lot to her, but her entire family. She was always ready and willing to help out in any way that she could. She looked forward to entertaining family and friends who came to visit especially the ones that didn’t live close by. Outdoor bbq’s and bonfires were a family favorite.
Barb was a creative soul, from sewing to painting and everything in between. She loved working with her hands and in the last couple years had actually painted pictures for all her friends and family as a memorial tribute. Flowers and gardening were also high on her favorites list. She would spend hours primping and nurturing her flowers both inside and outside. She was not shy about showing off her prized flowering cactus that she was the third generation to raise.
She loved nature and enjoyed watching the birds out her window. She would spend time taking photos of them trying to catch the perfect shot. She was lucky to live out of town where she got to see moose and deer wander across the property.
Outside the home she did office administration work and loved it. She received her diploma in that field at the age of 40. She was immensely proud of herself for wanting something better for herself and returning to college only to become valedictorian of her class. She worked full time until October of 2017 when she was diagnosed and needed to cease work to start her treatment.
Barb is survived by her loving husband and partner; Alvin of 45 years, children; April and Jason, son-in-law; Jean Paul, grandchildren; Ryder and Audrey and her five remaining siblings.
With respect to Barb’s wishes no formal funeral service will be held at this time.
Barb’s family would like to thank all the kind people who kindly donated to help with some of Barb’s travel expenses and the staff at the Cancer clinic in the Dawson Creek hospital for all their amazing care and friendship during her treatments.
For friends so wishing donations may be made in memory of Barb to the South Peace Hospice Palliative Care Society, 3-929 106 Avenue, Dawson Creek, BC V1G 2N8
