Barbara Lynne Kee Waddell Sunday August 9th 2020 avis de deces

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Lynne Kee, of Trenton, on Sunday, August 9th, 2020, in her 81st year. Much loved wife of 60 years to Ken, and proud mother to Jason. Barbara was also adored over the years by her many dogs including Doxie, Popsie, and Wilson, and most recently by her first cat Annie.
Barbara is survived by her nieces Jacquie Russell and JoAnn Waddell, and countless loving friends and family, both in Canada and afar. She is predeceased by her parents Clifford and Annetta Waddell, her brother Ken Waddell, his wife Marlyn, as well loving aunts and uncles Roy and Mildred Reynolds, Bill and Rita Killeen, and Roy and Alice Skelton, all who cherished her so much.
Barbara was born on November 25th, in the small village of Sperling, Manitoba. As a young woman she was an outstanding athlete, excelling in track and baseball, and in her adult life also enjoying curling. She met her husband Ken (of Graysville, Manitoba) in 1958 at an end-of-season baseball dance, and they married on June 18th, 1960. In 2020, they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
After marrying a young Flying Officer in the RCAF, she was immediately whisked off to Germany for four years, which marked the start of many adventures and friendships to last for over the next 60 years. After this first European tour, and while living in Winnipeg, son Jason arrived in 1967 – the beginning of another new adventure for Barbara and Ken. With the RCAF, the next few decades took the family to many posts across Canada, including Gimli and Winnipeg, Manitoba, Cold Lake, Alberta (twice), Kingston, Ontario, St-Bruno, Quebec, and finally to Trenton, where they bought their beloved home on the Bay of Quinte in 1979. Her life with Ken also took them back to Europe twice, once to the Netherlands (1970-73), and then to England (1986-92); it was in London where Jason chose to make his home, and in time his life, together with Paul. London was Barbara’s favourite place, and together with her family she explored many historic sites and shops, particularly Harrods, enjoyed the city’s many theatre shows (especially musicals), and even met Royalty.
In retirement, she enjoyed life by the Bay of Quinte, along with her many friends in the area. And with those friends, Barbara and Ken travelled further around the world, including to Russia, the Black Sea, Italy, Portugal, Sicily, Turkey, Tunisia, Mexico, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Bali, and many others. She was the first volunteer at what became the National Air Force Museum, and proudly worked there for 24 years.
Barbara lived the most wonderful life with her husband Ken, her son Jason, and so many friends and family. Both Ken and Jason were by her side when she passed peacefully on August 9th. The family would like to thank the compassionate staff at Kingston General Hospital, who took care of Barbara in her final days. Ken and Jason are also grateful for the kind words and thoughtful stories that friends and family, both near and far, have shared with them during this difficult time.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the RUSHNELL FUNERAL CENTRE 60 Division St., Trenton (613-392-2111). To leave a condolence, please visit www.rushnellfamilyservices.com
