Edward Prescott Irwin (Ted) passed away peacefully on December 7, 2020. He was born in Hilo, Hawaii in 1930 to the late Robert Grandy Irwin and Katherine Bruce Irwin of Shelburne. He was a graduate of Shelburne Regional High School, The Maritimes Business College and Dalhousie University.

His retirement in 1990 to Nova Scotia followed a career with Canada Packers in Charlottetown, Saint John, and Toronto; the Atlantic Provinces Economic Council; the Economic Council of Canada in Halifax; the Department of Manpower and Immigration; the Ministry of State for Urban Affairs and the Department of Energy, Mines and Resources in Ottawa where he was involved just prior to his retirement in international liaison work in the energy sector. Although he spent the last 20 years of his life in the US, he grew up and raised his family in Shelburne, Halifax and Ottawa.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon MacDonald Irwin, daughters Mary Hippern (Mike) of Bedford, NS, and Heather Irwin of Middle Sackville, NS; two grandsons, Mitchell and Scott, also of Bedford; nephew Robert Irwin and niece Nancy Sievert, grand nieces and nephews. he will also be greatly missed by Sharon's five children and their families. Ted was sadly predeceased by his daughters Joan, 1982 and Janet, 2000, his brother Bruce Irwin and sister-in-law Frances.

Ted's retirement to his favorite spot in the world, Round Bay, Shelburne County, was where he enjoyed numerous hobbies, mastering many new pursuits, including lots of time on the golf course. He and Sharon met on Round Bay Beach and went on to marry and spend 21 years together living in Nova Scotia and the United States.

A family graveside service will be held at a later date in Shelburne, Nova Scotia.
