Arthur Rideout Monday July 6th 2020

Arthur Stephen (Joe) Rideout, formerly of St. John’s, passed away peacefully in his home in Gander on Monday July 6, 2020 at the age of 84.
He was predeceased by his wife Bonnie, his parents Arthur and Mary Rideout, and his sisters Linette and Roma.
Joe moved to Gander in the early sixties and married Bonnie Pinsent. He began as a radio operator with Aeradio (Signals Centre) in Gander until his retirement in 1991. He was driven to teach and lead. He was shift supervisor and became union leader in that time. He was a devoted father, active in sports, coached minor hockey, enjoyed gardening, played guitar, loved to sing, and was part of the Fraser Road United Church choir.
Poppa Joe is survived by his children Michelle and Darin, his son-in-law Tom, his brothers Robert, Winston and Mac, his sisters Marie, Audrey, Pamala and Beverly, and his loving and caring neighbours Bob and Pansy Small. He is also survived by his granddaughters who he couldn’t have been more proud of Bonnie, Lindsay, Alexandra, Paige, Heather and Olivia.
“There will a safe social distanced open house to have a chat and celebrate Joe’s life this Sunday September 13th from 1pm to 4pm at 107 Ogilvie St in Gander. In lieu of flowers in Joe’s memory, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke foundation or Canadian Cancer Society.
