It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Antonio Grippo, on October 25, 2020, at the age of 80, just 2 weeks shy of his 81st birthday.
Beloved husband of Maria Grazia Solazzo of nearly 60 years of marriage, cherished father of Michele (Anna Maria), Domenico (Linda) and Angelo (Elizabeth) and devoted grandfather of Marc-Antoine, Luis, Ariana, Anthony, Julius, Gianluca and step-grandchildren Elizabeth and Samantha. He will also be missed by his sister Gerarda (Carmine), his sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and many relatives and friends.
Antonio left his hometown of Bisaccia, Italy in 1965 and raised his 3 boys with wife Grazia first in Ville-Émard and then LaSalle, Québec. An avid soccer and hockey fan, he enjoyed following his beloved teams, especially Napoli. But no players captured his heart more than his own grandchildren. He attended every game and was their #1 fan. A very dedicated Nonno, he was known to offer them the occasional bribe to encourage a goal.
Antonio was extremely hard-working, waking long before sunrise for his deliveries, at times encountering one of his sons returning from a night out. He was also very domestic, helping his wife with shopping, cooking and household chores, especially when she worked nights. He loved tending to the garden, was passionate about their seasonal food preserving traditions, and was a proud member of the Associazione Avellinese di San Gerardo, volunteering his time as treasurer.
Antonio was loved by everyone and will be dearly missed.
The family will receive condolences on Monday, November 2, 2020 from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm:

An intimate funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at 11:00 am at Madre Dei Cristiani Church, 7935, rue Lefebvre, and thence, to the Montréal – Cimetière Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the funeral service at Madre Dei Cristiani Church is by invitation only.
However, the service will be viewable on Facebook Live: www.facebook.com/madredeicristiani
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the doctors and nurses at the MUHC and Lachine Hospital Palliative Care for their wonderful support and care, especially Dr. Geneviève Chaput.
