PENNEY, Annie Bell – 87, South Side, passed away on June 22, 2020, in the Yarmouth Regional Hospital, Yarmouth. Born in Stoney Island on January 26, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Ashley and Edith (Brown) Brannen. Annie was a loving and caring mother and grandmother to all her family. She was, in general, a very loving person to everyone she met and wasn’t shy on giving out hugs. She worked hard all of her life and put others before herself; she gave everything she had to help others. She wallpapered a lot of homes on Cape Island and cooked for fishermen on the Tusket Islands. In addition to being an awesome cook, she made beautiful quilts and greatly enjoyed knitting dishcloths. She also loved her flowers and watching hummingbirds. She is survived by her children, Aubrey, Clark’s Harbour; Irene, South Side; Larry (Leanne), South Side; Anna (Roland Hoben), AB; Marius (Carl d’Entremont), Wedgeport; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; brothers, Henry Brannen, Alfred Brannen; and sister, Alene (Victor) Cottreau. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Freeman; and two sons, Jacob (in infancy), and Michael. There will be a small visitation held Friday evening, 6-7 p.m. at the H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington. The funeral service will take place 2 p.m., Saturday, June 27, at the H. M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington, with Rev. Shaun Hatfield officiating. There will be a livestream of this service on the Huskilson’s website (www.huskilson.net) for those unable to attend due to gathering restrictions. Interment to follow in the Atlantic Cemetery, Stoney Island. The family would like to thank the staff of Treasured Memories Nursing Home and Bay Side Home for taking wonderful care of Mom and also to the doctors and nurses of Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada. Online condolences may be sent to huskilson@ns.aliantzinc.ca or you may sign the guest book at www.huskilson.net
