Anne Seaton Mierzwa Sunday March 29th 2020 avis de deces

It is with sorrow that the family announces the passing of Anne Seaton (nee Mierzwa), aged 86, on March 29th, 2020 in Sudbury at St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre. She is survived by her sons, Stewart (Martha), Andrew, Robert (Sarah), daughter in law Jan, her granddaughters, Katie-Anne and Audrey, and her sister Lily (Toronto)
Anne (Anna) was born in Montreal on May 7th, 1933, to Kasper and Maria Mierzwa. Shortly after, the family moved from Montreal to the small mining town of Creighton, Ontario. It was there that her brother Walter (predeceased in infancy) and sister Lily were born. The family then moved to and settled in St. Catharines, Ontario.
Her caring nature led her to pursue a career in nursing. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Toronto on May 30th, 1957. She moved to Sudbury in 1960 when she married J. A. Douglas (Doug) Seaton (predeceased 1997). She completed her successful career in the public health field as a Director of Nursing with the Sudbury and District Health Unit. Anne was also a tireless volunteer with the Sudbury Chapter of the IODE and had until recent years contributed to the support of St. Christopher’s Anglican Church during the summer months in McGregor Bay, Ontario where she loved to spend time at the family cottage.
Anne was an avid patron of the arts and loved nothing more than spending a night out at the STC, Opera Guild or the movie theatre. Especially, if she could have the company of her greatest joy, her granddaughters. It was not uncommon to lose contact with her for days at a time during Sudbury’s annual Cinefest.
The family wishes to extend gratitude to Drs Monique and Mo St-Martin and the entire staff at St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre. A celebration of life will be arranged for a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre or a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, www.lougheed.org.
