Obituary of Andrija Pintaric
On Wednesday, October 7, 2020, Andy (Andrija) Pintaric, loving father and devoted grandfather passed away at the age of 82 in Invermere, B.C., Canada.
Andy was born on August 31, 1938 in Goranec, Croatia to Magdalena (nee Macek) and Tomislav Pintaric. He received his carpentry ticket in Zagreb, Croatia in 1957 and migrated to Austria in the spring of 1958. He landed in Canada later that year. He married Georgina (nee Pavlisa) in 1966 and raised two daughters, Lisa (born 1968) and Andrea (born 1970).
A precise and skilled carpenter with a dedicated work ethic, Andy had a kind heart and financially supported immediate and extended family members for a number of years before he married. He owned several construction companies and had worked in commercial and residential construction as a contractor. He loved to play card games and was the master of the German card game called Schnapps. As a young man, he enjoyed camping, fishing, and socializing. In later years, he poked around the house building and fixing things.
Andy was predeceased by his mother, Magdalena, his father, Tomislav and his brother, Alojz.
He is survived by his two daughters, Lisa and Andrea (Dominic), and his grandson Dorian as well as two brothers and the families of all three of his brothers.
A very special thank you to the many wonderful care-givers and staff at Columbia Village Gardens, and to Dr. Fleet for taking such good care of our father and grandfather. Thank you Dr. Fleet for guiding Andy through his final stages of life not only as his physician but as a friend.
A Church Service (Mass) was held on Saturday, October 17th, 2020 at the Canadian Martyrs Roman Catholic Parish (Invermere).
