Jean passed away on April 15, 2020, quietly and peacefully in her sleep, at home.
Born October 5, 1929, in Winnipeg MB, to (Alice) Jean and Thomas (Orton) Durnin.
Jean had a long, happy life, living to the age of 90. She was the last of her generation, in our family.
Jean always looked at life as a wonderful adventure, and she travelled to and lived in many areas of BC, Alberta, Manitoba, and the Yukon, Canada. Whitehorse YT was her favorite place, and she and Dad spent many happy years there, playing golf, and attending Winter Yukon events
Jean was never happy to sit still at home. She loved to be out and about, right to the end of her life. She loved to swim and swam regularly, right up to the age of 90.
Jean loved gardens, playing cards, horses, dogs and cats, but especially horses and dogs. She shared her love of horses, with her grand-daughter Jean, who will miss her dearly.
Jean was a unique woman, and a true Original. She was an aspiring writer and a psychic, but family was the steady constant in her life. She felt lucky to be able to spend time with her youngest grand-daughter, Caitlyn, in the last years of her life, playing lots of cards and laughing with her.
We will all miss her presence in our lives.
Pre-deceased by her Dad and Mom; her husband, Bruce Stephen; her brothers, Bill, Vic, and Cec Durnin, and her sister, Liz Durnin, as well as her daughter, Lori Murrie; and her grandson, Mickey (David) Hoffman.
Jean leaves behind son, John Stephen; daughter, Crystal Wolf (Theo); grandchildren, Caitlyn Stephen, Thomas Hoffman (Donna), Jean (Alix) and Brian Bird (Sheila) and great-grandchildren, Daxton Dion-Hoffman, Angie Dion-Hoffman, Kayden Bird, and Annabelle Bird.
She also leaves behind many others, both family, Rob Law (Lisa) (Rob’s son, Sean), along with many other nieces (Karen Richards and Andrea Sewell), and nephews (Jeff, Jim and Bill Durnin); and friends, Phyllis (Jiri) Hubacek; Pat Hunt (Pat’s son, James); her young friend, Andrew Chapman, (his Mom, Karen); and especially her lifelong friend Dawn (Dan) Landault.
