Alex Tinga December 20 1931 February 22 2020 avis de deces

Alex Tinga
Born on Dec 20, 1931 in Baaium, Friesland, The Netherlands.
Died peacefully on Feb 22, 2020 at Trenton Memorial Hospital, Trenton, Ontario, Canada surrounded by family.
Alex leaves behind Anne Tinga his wife of 59 years, sons Rick and Ron (Cindy) and daughter Carol. He is predeceased by his three brothers Johannes (Sietske), Jan (Marieke), and Geert (surviving Marie). Alex will be truly missed by all his nieces & nephews, extended family and many friends. Alex arrived… Read More » in Canada as a certified welder at age 19. He first worked for several years on farms before becoming a deckhand on a St. Lawrence River ship. After that he was employed at Central Bridge, Trenton, as a welder. Alex worked as a salesman at a Trenton furniture store before starting out on his own and building a successful furniture and appliance business focused on providing excellent service. He took great pleasure in visiting family back in Friesland including a trip when the kids were in high school so they could meet their Dutch relatives. Alex loved hosting visits by numerous Friesian and other family members. He enjoyed the friendship of sister-in-law Cathy Wood of Wooler and her husband, his brother-in-law Leo, who passed away just last year. Together, they lovingly supported Alex with many visits in recent years as his health declined. Over his lifetime, Alex enjoyed snowmobiling, camping at Presqu’ile Provincial Park and Willow Grove, and power boating in the Quinte area. Alex and Anne enjoyed numerous motorhome trips across Canada and into the United States – sometimes on their own in retirement and earlier with the family. One such trip was an epic family reunion in South Dakota with the California relatives and included sisters-in law Leni (Luuc) and Corrie (Harry) and many nieces and nephews. In retirement, Alex also enjoyed a daily coffee with friends and other local business owners, and spent many afternoons and evenings walking the docks at marinas chatting with boaters. The family is appreciative of the loving, dedicated care of Drs. Kaladeen and Nolan and the extended healthcare team too numerous to mention all by name. Arrangements are entrusted with WEAVER Funeral Home – West, 170 Dundas St. West, Trenton. Keeping with Alex’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will occur at a later date. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
