It is with heavy hearts that we relay the passing of our dear Dad and Poppy in the early morning hours of November 23, 2020 at the Calder Health Care Center in Burgeo ,NL.
Leaving behind with many beautiful memories to comfort them are his children; Frank, Jocelyn, Paul (Jacquie), Janet (Todd), and Steven (Courtney).
Also his loving grandchildren; Jamie (Carly), Raymond (Carmen), Matthew, Taylor (Alexis), Easton, Parker, Sarah, Jaxon and great grandson Jayce.
His brothers Lewis(Cora), Allister, sister in law Florence, brother in law Henry Anthony (Lee), cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Dad was predeceased by his loving wife of 56 years Marjorie Lillian, his parents James and Marian, sisters Doris Anthony, Mabel, brother Obed, sister in law Ethel and son in law Les Fowler.
Dad was a gentle giant. In stature and in heart. He was one of the good guys.
He was a man of many talents and capabilities. Dad had many interests and hobbies. He loved to hunt and fish especially with his sons, brothers and friends. Hiking as we would call it but he would call it “walking on the country” was one of his favorite things to do either at the beach or in the country. You could always find him down in the basement tinkering, building or inventing something for his grandchildren, his friends or himself. He was also a pretty accomplished dart player. And of course we can’t forget the many, many card games played with mom or friends either at the house or in the cabin.
Dad was also a dedicated contributor to his community; Lions Club member, volunteer fire fighter, School board trustee, blood donor, Burgeo Broadcasting and many more.
He was a great son, brother, husband, brother in law, father, father in law, Poppy, Great Poppy, coworker and good friend. He cherished all his roles in his life.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Stan and Alice Cossar, Jim and Denise Hann and son Frank for being by Dad’s side at his passing.
Thank you as well go out to the nurses and caregivers at the Long term care facility at the Calder Health Care Center in Burgeo, NL.
There are also many relatives, friends and acquaintances who have brought a smile, a hug, a hello, or Dad’s favorite “hand holding” moments to him over the years. For those times of caring we are ever grateful.
It brings us immense comfort and joy to know that you are once again in Mom’s arms.
May you once more enjoy those quiet moments of fishing on the pond in your canoe!
“To love and be loved, is to feel the sun from both sides”
Goodbye Dad and Poppy, till we meet again.
A service will be announced at a later date.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Albert
John
