Obituary of Agnes Opsal
Agnes Elise Opsal of Livelong, Saskatchewan passed away at the Turtleford Riverside Complex on Tuesday March 3rd at the age of 94 years.
Agnes was born in Levanger Norway oldest daughter to Oline and Tormod Jorgenson. She came to the Mervin Region at 2 years of age with her Mother Hanna Oline Jorgenson and father Tormod Jorgenson. They established a farming life and along with her sister and brother. They went to Brooksdale School near Mervin Saskatchewan. After finishing school, Agnes worked as telephone operator initially in Turtleford. She met her husband Lisle and they were married on July 5, 1951. They worked together on their farm near Livelong until it they sold the farm and moved to Saskatoon in 1976. She was active as a homemaker, president of the Ladies Homemaker Club and was in the Ladies Auxiliary. She later was involved with the Legion Branch #192 in Livelong along with her husband. She always had time to help her neighbors in Saskatoon, Livelong, and at Turtle Lake where she retired. She loved sports including golf, bowling, fishing, curling and in her younger days ball. She played lots of cards at Turtle Lake and Dexter Hall. She also enjoyed some travelling to places like Vancouver Island and to Montreal where she watched her son play hockey in the Montreal Forum against Montreal Habs Alumni.
Agnes is survived by her son John of Saskatoon/ Livelong, SK and his partner Anita Hamm. Agnes is also survived by her brother Einar (Lila) Jorgenson, of Mervin, SK. their children Floyd (Patsy) Jorgenson of Mervin, Sk. Theresa (Doug) McGillivray, Vonda Jorgenson and Arlene Jorgenson all of Saskatoon. She also is survived by her Sister Esther Tysowski of Nanaimo BC her husband’s sons Murray and Brian. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Leo Opsal (Kathy)of Saskatoon and their children Kevin (Gail) Opsal), Elton (Elise) Opsal and Dianne (Les) Ehman all of Saskatoon. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Mary Opsal and her children David and Louann Opsal, also niece Mary Opsal of Saskatoon, SK. and by numerous other Nieces and Nephews. Agnes is predeceased by her parents Oline and Tormod Jorgenson and her mother and father in-law Mabel and Ole Opsal, her husband Lisle Opsal and his brothers Roy and John as well as nieces Judy Opsal of Montreal and Susan Shimla of Saskatoon.
Agnes was cheerful and fun to be around. She is also survived by her 20-year-old Coon Cat, Misty. Agnes will be missed by all who knew her. The Funeral Service for Agnes will be conducted from the Livelong Community Hall, Livelong, Saskatchewan on Monday, March 23, 2020 at 2:00 PM.
Donations in memory of Agnes may be made to the Turtleford Hospital Auxiliary or Royal Canadian Legion Branch #192.
