Obituary of Agnes Marie McCaig
Agnes McCaig, wife of the late James Leo McCaig, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2020 at Bobby’s Hospice. Born July 11, 1924 in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late John and Maud (McHugh) Fudge. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Agnes is survived by her daughters, Claire Garnett (the late Richard), Catherine Cropley (Ronald) and Christine Girouard (Terry); grandchildren, Kathryn Garnett, Emily Whelly (David), Scott Girouard, and Stuart Cropley; great-grandson, Grant Whelly; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and members of her extended family.
Besides her parents and husband, Agnes was predeceased by her brothers, John (Esther), Ernest (Ann) and Robert (Margaret) and her sisters, Kathleen Creary (Cyril), Florence Clark (Clarence) and Bernice Burley (Donald).
Agnes was a member of Holy Redeemer Parish, the CWL, Perpetual Adoration Society, Auxiliary at St. Joseph’s and Regional Hospitals and the Legion of Mary in Upham.
Among other activities she enjoyed playing cards with her friends at St. Ann’s, The Assumption and in Lorneville.
She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Arrangements are entrusted to Brenans Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). In keeping with Agnes’ wishes, there will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Holy Redeemer Parish, 316 Somerset Street, Saint John on Friday, January 17, 2020 at 1:00 PM. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
For those who wish, remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
