Adam Forsyth
Sydney
It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Adam Forsyth, 86, at his home in Sydney, Nova Scotia on August 9, 2020.
Adam is survived by his beloved wife Theresa (Marinelli) of 35 years, son Bradley and daughters Deborah, Michelle and Kimberley, stepsons Rodney (Lorraine) Marinelli and Albert Brown, grandchildren Jackie, Jennifer, Cory, Jiajia, Lilan and step-grandchildren Megan, Christina and Savanna as well as brothers Donnie and Ollie Forsyth (Marie), sister Brenda Wilkinson (Gary) and favorite in-laws Carol Taylor (Curt), Lou Marinelli (Brenda), Sheldon Marinelli (Lynne) and Laurie MacNeil (Russell). He is also survived by his great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Adam was predeceased by his parents Adam and Edith (McLean) Forsyth as well as brothers Hughie and Byron Forsyth. He was born and raised in New Waterford, Nova Scotia and lived much of his early adult life there working at #12 Colliery and then at Devco until his retirement in 1998.
Adam loved horses and horse racing and it was through racing that he met and married his love, Theresa Marinelli from Sydney Mines. After they married, Adam and Theresa moved to Howie Centre until they found their own little piece of the world and built their forever home in Frenchvale, where they resided for the past 30 years. This soon became a second home to many, where everyone came together and was welcomed with open arms.
Adam was exceptionally handy and hard working, he loved to keep busy working on their house and acreage but also had an entrepreneurial spirit and a love of food. He operated a Treats franchise in the Mayflower mall for a number of years as well as Scoops Dairy Bar at the Cape Breton Exhibition for the last 15 years. These ventures suited him and his sweet tooth perfectly. He was an avid sports fan, a Market Watch junkie and a proud Cape Bretoner. He was a highly intelligent man with great appreciation for routine, puzzles of all sorts and opera music, hearing his booming voice sing along to Andrea Bocelli will forever be etched in our mind! He loved his wife, his family and his home and was a safe ‘port in a storm’ for any and all over the years. He was a quiet and thoughtful listener always willing to lend an ear or a hand and lived by ‘if you don’t have something good to say about something or someone, best to say nothing at all’. You could often find him sitting on his front porch after a hard day of work in deep reflection, entranced by the stillness and silence of all but nature, he found peace here.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Jobes Funeral Home in Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia. There will be a celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, Diabetes Canada or to a charity of one’s choice. Online condolences may be expressed at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Adam Forsyth 2020..
