Obituary of Abigail Georgina Keeping
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Abigail Keeping announces her passing on Saturday, August 22, 2020, at Oceanview Continuing Care Nursing Home, Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia, at the age of 84 with her daughters by her side. Born in Diamond Cove, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Susanna (Spicer) Stroud. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband, Wilson Keeping of 64 years, her children, Ivy (George) Cokes, Ramona (Gary) Keeping, Gordie (Denise) Keeping, and Wilma (Boyd) Hatcher, grandchildren, Stephen (Janice) Cokes, Stacy (Andrew) Cokes, Gina Keeping (Robert), Bailey Hatcher and Myles Keeping, great-grandchildren, Garreth Sanford, Schuyler Sanford, Blake Jordan, Carys Sanford-Cokes, Ethan Jordan, Piper Sanford-Cokes, and Carly Jordan, brothers- and sisters-in-law, Edwin Keeping, Shirley (Edward) Cokes, Bessie Gillard, Lockland Keeping and Peggy Keeping, maternal nephew, Raymond and Marion Stroud, and many paternal nieces and nephews. Abigail was predeceased by infant son, mother and father in law, Garfield and Mary Anne Keeping, brother, William (Susie) Stroud, sister-in-law, Katherine (Charles) House, brothers-in-law, Raymond Gillard, William Keeping and Arthur Keeping, sister-in-law, Isabella Keeping, nephews Gary Stroud, Dennis and David Howse, and great-nephew, Coady Herritt. We would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Oceanview Nursing home for taking such good care of our Mom for the past three years. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, August 25th, 2020 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Oceanside Funeral Home, 23 Read Street, Port aux Basques. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 26th, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Michael’s and All Angles Church in Rose Blanche officiated by Rev. Canon Jeffrey Petten, interment to follow at Hillside Haven Cemetery. Flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to the family.
