Wynne Alexander Dempster Sunday December 22nd 2019

Beloved husband, father, Papa, Mr. Wynne Alexander Dempster passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones at the Gray Nun’s Hospital on Sunday, December 22, 2019 at the age of 68 years. Wynne was born on March 27, 1951 at Lamont, Alberta. He leaves behind his wife, Theresa, his two sons, Marshall Dempster (Yana), Michael Dempster (Lauren), his three stepsons, Travis Johnson (Tera), Brett Johnson (Kirsten), and Justin Johnson. He also leaves behind his twelve loving grandchildren. Wynne was born in Lamont, Alberta and spent his formative years in Grimshaw with his Father Wayne, Mother Adelaide and siblings Darlene, Donald and Alrene. As a teenager Wynne moved to Red Deer to begin an illustrious hockey career. As a member of the 1970 – 1971 Red Deer Rustlers, Wynne helped capture the first ever Centennial Cup as a Junior ‘A’ champions. Wynne was widely known as a tenacious forward who would do anything to help his teammates win. As his professional hockey career ended Wynne returned home and began a career as the operations manager with Red Deer Bottling. Along with this he also managed and coached the Red Deer Rustlers to many successful seasons. Wynne has been an integral part of the Central Alberta hockey community for decades and his love for the game will live on forever. Along with hickey, golf was Wynne’s other sporting passion. Wynne was a long time member of the Red Deer Golf and Country Club and could be found almost every day, rain or shine around those fairways and greens. In 2012 Wynne married the love of his life Theresa. Wynne and Theresa cherished their time together, everything from Friday dinner dates, Sunday afternoon arena time, trips to Invermere and Radium or their favorite weeks together in Mexico. Whenever they were together it was very clear how special their relationship was. Wynne made a lasting impression on almost everyone he met. He will always be remembered for his quick wit, memorable stories but mostly for his love and dedication to those that he loved. The memorial service will be held Thursday, January 2, 2020 at the Hideout. Doors will open at 2:30PM with the memorial service to begin at 3:00PM. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given in Wynne’s name to the Hockey Alberta Every Kid Every Community Foundation or The Canadian Cancer Society.
