Russell (Russ) Cordell Boone, age 79 of Stratford passed away peacefully at the Rotary Hospice Stratford Perth on December 27, 2019 with his loving wife Carol (Edmonds) Boone by his side. Born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia on December 24, 1940, he was the son of the late William and Lucy (MacKinnon) Boone.
He is survived by his four sons David (Sheila), Peter (Louisa), Robert (Leslie) and Greg (Laura). Also dearly loved by grandchildren Maggie, Bridget, Carter, Nicole, Katie, Erika, and twins Addison and Emily. He was predeceased by his first wife Margaret (Platt) Boone (1992) sister Charmaine Durant and brothers Gerard and Bill.
Russ spent most of his career in finance and client management for Samsonite Canada. He loved his work and enjoyed his coworkers always. An avid sports fan and football Patriots supporter, Russ also enjoyed cottage life, boating, travelling, golf and was an accomplished photographer. He delighted in reminding his sons that he was the only one to make a hole in one at his home course in Goderich. His love of the Maritimes and the people there still resonate strongly with his family.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 am January 18, 2020 at St. James’ Anglican Church, 41 Mornington Street, Stratford, Ontario prior to the memorial service at 11:00 am. A lunch reception will follow the service in the Lower Church Hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Rotary Hospice Stratford Perth or St. James’ Anglican Church Building Fund through the W.G.
